  • Minimum IELTS score – Overall 6.5 with no band less than 6 OR

Minimum TOEFL score – 87.

  • German Language – may not always be a criteria for admission but it is better to achieve a basic level of German language A1 or A2 as more and more universities are expecting at least A1 level proficiency. It is noted that candidates with German language skills have better chance of getting admission in German universities as compared to candidates with no German language skills.
  • Three ways to prove the language ability is through
  • DSH – German Language test for foreign students.
  • TestDaF – Central, standardized test for German as a foreign language.
  • ZOP of Goethe Institute.
  • GRE is needed for good and high-ranked Universities – 310+ is considered as a good score. GRE is a requirement for some Automobile and Mechanical courses by high-ranked Universities.
  • Universities do not issue Conditional Offer Letters to the students.
  • For courses like Mechanical Engineering and Automotive Engineering, candidate must have very good academics like 75% plus in Bachelors and a GRE score as well, as these are highly competitive courses.

  • 12 years of education is required for entry in a Bachelors program in Germany. Some universities needs 13 years of education.

üThis can be achieved by successfully completing the first year of a Bachelors program from a recognized university in India in the relevant subject field.

OR

üSuccessfully completing a Foundation year at a university in Germany to compensate for the 13th year of education.

    What is the APS certificate in Germany?

    The APS is a joint institution of the German Embassy’s cultural department and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The APS checks the authenticity of educational biographies and the corresponding educational certificates, and issues certificates if the result is positive. The fee for the APS is INR 18,000 (NON-REFUNDABLE) and APS will be applicable for both UG and PG Students.

    Duolingo, PTE, and MOI are not acceptable to the embassy.

  • Recognized language tests are required during the visa application process:

    Please provide proof of your language ability in the language of instruction required for your desired study course or preparatory course in Germany. Without a preparatory language course, as a rule, at least a B2-level in the language of instruction is required. Please note that for the visa process, only language certificates that are approved by the German government will be accepted (such as Goethe Institute / Max Mueller Bhavan / ÖST, DSD, IELTS, and TOEFL). Do NOT provide “exemption letters” or “medium of instruction letters”!

What is the TestAS Exam?

Non- European Union students who wish to pursue graduation in German-based universities can apply for the TestAS examination. It is a central standardized scholastic aptitude test that measures intellectual and cognitive abilities for higher studies. German Academic Exchange Service conducts this examination. The test can be taken in German, English, and in certain cases in Arabic languages. It comprises of three major parts which include the onscreen language test, the core test, and subject-specific test modules.

  • It is mandatory for every applicant to fulfill the eligibility criteria; most European universities require a student’s TestAS score as one of the criteria.
  • TestAS acts as a self-assessment tool, after appearing for the exam applicants are able to evaluate themselves about the course they want to pursue & if they would be able to complete the course on not.
  • TestAS certificate is just not restricted to European university admission, students can also use it for applying to various companies & universities.

What is the validity of TestAS?

The certificate validity is unlimited.

What are the age criteria for TestAS?

There is no maximum age limit to appear for the TestAS but the applicant has to be at least in the secondary level and completing his/her last year.

What are the things allowed at the test center on the day of the exam?

There are two mandatory things every applicant must carry:

1.Valid ID proof, the ID proof should be the same ID proof that was used during the registration Process

  1. Print out of admission email, applicants will receive an email from the test centers

Applicants can carry a black/blue ballpoint pen & make not carry a calculator, reference book, or resource at the test center.

What is the last date for registration for TestAS?

The last date for registration is five weeks before the exam date.

  • A student visa is required by Indian students who wish to pursue Higher Education inGermanyand have secured admission in a German College or University.
  • Applicants should apply for the visa in person at least 3 months prior to departure. The visa processing may take 8 – 12 weeks.
  • The Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Mumbai can only accept the visa applications from persons residing in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Daman and Diu.
  • The Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Chennai accepts the visa application from the states of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry.
  • The Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bangalore accepts the visa application
    from the states of Karnataka & Kerala.
  • The Consulate General of the Federal Republic of
    Germany in Kolkata accepts the visa application
    from the states of West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand,
    Odisha, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura.
  • The Delhi Embassy’s area of consular jurisdiction covers the states of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and the Union Territories of Chandigarh, Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar and Lakshadweep Islands.
    • There is a VISA fee of 80 Euros at present (subject to change) to be submitted through Demand Draft at the time of VISA interview.
    • Students have to open a blocked account (called “Sperrkonto”) in Germany in the name of the applicant and deposit Euros 11,208. Once in Germany the student will receive the amount back in 12 equal installments of Euros 934 to cover Living costs.

    Note: It is advisable to deposit an additional amount of 150 Euros in the blocked account to make sure that the amount standing in account is more than 11,208 EUR after deduction of bank charges. If the balance in blocked account is below 11,208 EUR due to any reason, German Consulate will not accept VISA Application.

Ans: Yes, 3 years Bachelor’s is acceptable to apply for Master’s in Private Institutions.

For Public Universities, 4 years Bachelor’s degree is required.
